Opening an Account for Gas with Engie (GDF Suez)
If you are moving to a home with natural gas service, you will need to open an account for natural gas in your name. While Engie is the largest natural gas supplier in France and the only supplier able to offer GDF Suez regulated tariffs, alternate suppliers offer very competitive rates.
If you have decided on a plan with Engie, call their new customer sign-up number at 09 69 36 05 73 (Monday through Friday from 8 am to 9 pm). You will need to provide the following information to open an account for natural gas with Engie:
- Your contact information: name, e-mail address, phone number
- The address of your new accommodation. Don't forget the floor and apartment number if it is a flat (e.g. third floor, the door on the left)
- The name of the previous occupant
- Your banking information (RIB) (IBAN and BIC, if you choose automatic payment)
The rate you pay for your natural gas depends on your consumption class, which is determined by how much natural gas you use. To determine your consumption class, the sales representative from Engie will ask you some questions about your home and your natural gas usage, such as questions about the size, the number of occupants, heating/hot water energy source, etc. You can also estimate your consumption online (in French).
