The Bouygues Telecom mobile plans, known as the "forfaits Sensation", give access to various amounts of data, SMS and call allowances, as well as additional services in some cases.

Upon subscribing, you will also have the option to purchase a mobile phone to go with the plan, which will slightly increase your monthly bills but work out cheaper in the long run that buying a new phone separately.

The B&You mobile plans (contract-free)

Bouygues Telecom also offers low-cost, contract-free plans known under the brand B&You.

While they are cheaper than the previous plans (for equivalent French data allowances), they don't include any extra bonuses, and the international call, SMS and data allowances are reduced.

How to cancel a Bouygues Telecom mobile subscription

Before you go ahead and cancel your Bouygues Telecom contract, you need to determine whether you want to keep your phone number or not.

You may not need to if you are moving away from France, for instance, but otherwise keeping your same number will make things easier.

How to cancel a Bouygues phone plan but keep your phone number

If you decide to keep your phone number but switch to another provider, you will need to get hold of what if known as your line's RIO code (Relevé d'Identité Opérateur).

To do so, you simply need to ring 3179, an automatic vocal server which will read out your code and send it to you via text. Once you have this number, you can go ahead and contact your new provider of choice, who will take care of the rest of the steps to cancel your Bouygues contract for you.

How to cancel a Bouygues phone plan and get rid of your phone number

If however, you want to terminate your line and not keep your phone number, you will need to contact Bouygues Telecom to arrange the termination.

There are several ways you can notify Bouygues Telecom of your wish to end your phone plan subscription:

  • Via your Bouygues Telecom online customer account, by clicking on "Résilier mon contrat".
  • By mail (tracked and signed for), at the address Service clients Bouygues Telecom - 60436 NOAILLES CEDEX

Note that you will, in addition to this notification, you will need to send off a phone cancellation letter, or "Lettre de Résiliation", in French. You can get help with the writing by using this Cancellation Letter Generator. Then, you simply have to send it off to the letter to the address mentioned just above.

How much will the Bouygues mobile cancellation cost?

Bear in mind that the cancellation might incur fees:

  • If you signed up to a B&You phone plan, there are no fees to pay since these don't come with a contract period.
  • If you signed up to regular phone plan and reached the end of your contract period (generally 24 months), you also will have no fees to pay.
  • If you cancel your phone plan before the end of your contract and had over 12 months left to go, you will have to pay the equivalent of what you had left to pay in year 1, plus 25% of year 2 (meaning 3 months).
  • If you cancel your phone plan before the end of your contract and had under 12 months left to go, you will have to pay the equivalent of 25% of what you had left to pay by the end of the contract.

Make sure you unlock your phone, if necessary, as make sure you can use your phone in France before you sign on to a contract with another provider.
