Italian natural gas company Eni is the largest natural gas supplier in Europe, and one of the largest alternative suppliers of natural gas in France. Present in France since the mid-2000s, Eni launched under its own name in 2012 (after having acquired the alternative natural gas supply company Altergaz), and currently holds about 14% of the French natural gas market.

In France Eni offers natural gas supply for residential and small business customers at fixed prices or at variable rates that guarantee a certain percentage discount off of the regulated tariffs. Eni also offers carbon compensation for natural gas.

How to Open an Account With Eni

You can sign up for a plan with Eni online via their website, or over the phone with Selectra at 09 87 67 37 93 (Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 8 pm, and Saturday from 9:30 am to 6 pm).

  • You need to have the following information in order to open an account with Eni for natural gas supply
  • Your contact information: name, e-mail address, phone number
  • The address of your new accommodation. Don't forget the floor and apartment number if it is a flat (e.g. third floor, door on the left)
  • The name of the previous occupant
  • Your banking information (RIB) (IBAN and BIC, if you choose automatic payment)

If possible, it helps to have an accurate meter reading (relevé de compteur) and a copy of your most recent bill (facture) when signing up for a plan for natural gas supply with Eni.

About Eni

The name Eni stands for "Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi" (national hydrocarbons authority). Headquartered in Rome, Eni is an Italian multinational oil and gas company that was founded in 1953. Eni is the second-largest natural gas supplier in France in terms of volumes sold, a reflection of its strong presence in the industrial market. The company is the third-largest natural gas supplier in France, after Engie and EDF in terms of the number of clients.
